Plans for Saturday

On Friday evening, Maya calls her friend Leo. They are going to visit the outdoor market on Saturday. Maya wants to buy a plant for her balcony, and Leo needs a present for his sister. They are going to take the bus together.

“Did you check the bus times?” Maya asks. “Yes, I checked them this morning,” Leo replies. “The first bus leaves at nine.” Maya has to work until half past nine, so they choose the ten o’clock bus instead.

Leo looks at the weather forecast. There may be rain in the afternoon. “If it rains, we will visit the covered market,” he says. “It is smaller, but there is a nice café upstairs.” Maya likes the idea.

“Could you bring your large shopping bag?” she asks. Leo agrees. He is not going to buy anything heavy, so there will be space for her plant. They decide to meet at the bus stop at a quarter to ten.

Before ending the call, Maya writes the time on a note beside her keys. They have a plan and a simple alternative. Now she only has to remember to set her alarm.
