Sam checked the window on Friday. A small metal part was broken. He called a repair company, but the earliest appointment was Monday afternoon. The reading room was supposed to open on Tuesday.

Nina planned to paint during the weekend. Now she could not finish the wall near the window. Instead, she painted a sign at home and asked Leah to keep the donated books in the café.

The forecast was right: on Saturday, the rain came. A little water reached the windowsill, but the books stayed dry downstairs. Owen used the extra time to sort them into three groups: stories, practical guides and books for children.

Leah was worried. “Do we have to open later?” she asked. Sam suggested a simpler plan. “We can use the dry side of the room first,” he said. “It does not need to be perfect to be useful.” They decided to check everything again on Monday.
