Leo lives in a flat on the second floor. It is ten o’clock at night. Knock, knock, knock. Someone is at the door.
Leo looks through the little hole in the door. He sees nobody. He opens the door. The corridor is empty and dark. He closes the door.
The next night, at ten o’clock, there are three knocks again. Leo is afraid, but he is also curious. This time, he sits near the door and waits.
Knock, knock, knock. Leo opens the door fast. A small grey cat is on the floor. It has a toy mouse and one paw on the door. The cat looks at Leo and says, “Miaow.”
Leo laughs. The cat gives him the toy mouse. A label on its collar says, “My name is Pip. I live in flat 4.” Leo takes Pip home. His neighbour, Mrs Gray, says, “He likes you!” Tomorrow at ten, Leo waits with a bowl of milk.
