Three Small Jobs

Leah put a notice in the café window: “Help us open an evening reading room.” By Wednesday, three people had written their names below it. She invited them to meet after work.

Omar was good at organising things. He offered to make a list of donated books. Nina enjoyed painting and could help make the room welcoming. Leah would speak to Sam about keys and opening hours.

They agreed to start small: one evening a week, from six until eight. Visitors could read there for free, but they would not borrow books yet. That would make the first month easier to manage.

Before leaving, Nina noticed that the window did not close properly. The weather forecast showed rain for the weekend. “We should tell Sam before we paint anything,” she said. Leah added one more job to her list.
