The Kind Stranger

Omar is in a new city. He wants to take the tram. He has a blue travel card in his hand.

At the tram stop, people touch their cards on a small machine. Omar touches his card, but the machine shows a red light.

Omar looks confused. A woman near him says, “Hold your card here for a moment,” she says. She shows him where to put it.

Omar tries again. This time the machine shows a green light. The tram arrives.

Omar says, “Thank you.” The woman smiles. Omar gets on the tram and finds a seat.
