Nina stayed in the library after class to finish her homework. Her blue backpack was on the chair beside her. Another blue backpack was on the next chair, but she did not notice it.
When the bell rang, Nina closed her notebook and took the nearest backpack. “This is mine,” she thought. She hurried to science class and sat down before the teacher arrived.
Then she opened the bag and saw a history book, a red pencil case, and a notebook with the name Leo on the cover. Her own backpack had a yellow key ring and a science book. “This one isn’t mine,” she whispered. It was the wrong backpack.
Nina felt embarrassed, but she left the classroom and returned to the library. Leo was there, looking under the table and checking the shelves. “Is this yours?” she asked.
“I’m really sorry,” Nina said. “The backpacks look almost the same. Yours is blue, and mine is blue too.” Leo laughed. “Then this one is mine, and that one is yours,” he said. They exchanged bags and decided to put bright stickers on the zips.
