FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Eastgate Cycles to open community repair workshop
Eastgate Cycles announced today that it will open a repair workshop on Harbour Street on 3 June, creating twelve jobs, eight of them for apprentices from the local college.
The workshop, which has been funded by a grant from the city council, will offer low-cost repairs and free maintenance classes on Saturday mornings. According to the company, demand for repairs has risen by forty per cent over the past two years.
“We have been inundated with requests, and we could no longer ignore them,” said managing director Anita Rowe. “Our aim is to keep bicycles on the road for longer and to give young people a skill that is genuinely in demand.”
The opening ceremony will start at 10 a.m., and members of the public are welcome. Further information is available from the press office at [email protected] or on 01632 960123.
