Paula usually walked around the lake because it was the easiest route in the park. One afternoon, she decided to take a different path after the big tree.
At first, the new path was quiet and pleasant. She saw flowers, a small bridge, and dogs running after a ball. Then she realised that she could no longer see the lake.
Paula did not want to walk in circles. She stopped beside a map and looked for a place she could recognise. The map showed a fountain in the centre of the park, and Paula could hear water nearby.
She followed the sound until she reached the fountain. From there, the main path went back to the lake. She smiled when she recognised the path beside the lake.
The next time Paula visited the park, she took the same new path again. This time it felt familiar, and she noticed a bench for the first time.
