A Weekend at the Lake

Dean and his sister Rosa go to a lake for the weekend. They take the train early on Saturday because the road is always busy. There is a small hotel by the water. There are three boats in front of it.

They leave their bags at the hotel. Then they walk to the village and buy some food: bread, cheese and fruit. Rosa buys a postcard for her grandmother.

In the afternoon, Dean takes a boat. He goes across the lake, and Rosa takes photos. The water is calm. They are on the lake for two hours. Then dark clouds come.

It starts to rain. Dean goes fast to the hotel. Rosa laughs, but she is a little afraid. They run inside and drink hot chocolate.

In the evening, the rain stops. They sit outside and look at the stars. There are no cars and no noise. “I want to come back next summer,” says Rosa.
