Clara has a party for her sister on Saturday. On Friday, she goes to the village shop. It is a very small shop. The owner is Mr Bell.

“Do you have any candles?” Clara asks. “Yes, I do,” Mr Bell says. “I have some candles here.” “Do you have any balloons?” “Sorry, I don’t have any balloons today.”

“Is there any paper for a big sign?” Clara asks. “No, there isn’t any paper,” Mr Bell says. “But there is some string.” Clara looks at the string.

Under the table, Mr Bell finds a box. “I don’t have any balloons, but I have some paper lanterns!” he says. The lanterns are red, yellow and blue.

Clara buys the candles, the string and the lanterns. At home, her sister asks, “Is there any cake?” “No, there isn’t any cake yet,” Clara laughs. “But we have some candles!”
