Clara had a party on Saturday for her sister. On Friday she went to the village shop. It was a very small shop, and the owner was Mr Bell.

“Do you have any candles?” Clara asked. “Yes, I do,” Mr Bell said. “I have some candles here.” “Do you have any balloons?” “Sorry, I don’t have any balloons today.”

“Is there any paper for a banner?” Clara asked. “No, there isn’t any paper,” Mr Bell said. “But there is some string.” Clara looked at the string and thought about it.

Under the table, Mr Bell found a box. “I don’t have any balloons, but I have some paper lanterns!” he said. The lanterns were red, yellow and blue, and they looked beautiful.

Clara bought the candles, the string and the lanterns. At home, her sister asked, “Is there any cake?” “No, there isn’t any cake yet,” Clara laughed. “But we have some candles!”
