Quiz Night at the Centre

Every second Thursday, there is a quiz night at the community centre. Sofia goes there for the first time. Her colleague Raúl says, “Come with me!” “Is it a nice place?” Sofia asks. “Yes, it is,” Raúl says. “Nobody is serious.”

At the door, a woman gives them a card. “Write your team name here,” she says. “Do not use your phone.” Sofia puts her phone in her bag. Their team name is The Late Learners.

The first round is about countries. “I like maps,” Raúl says. “Me too,” says Sofia, “but I don’t know the capitals.” At the next table, a man says, “I don’t know one river!” His friend says, “Me neither.”

The second round is about music. The man with the microphone plays a short song. “It is a Spanish singer,” Sofia says. “No,” says Raúl. “The words are in Portuguese.” He is right. Sofia is a little embarrassed.

The last round is very close. The man asks, “Which animal sleeps standing up?” “A horse!” they shout. They finish third. Sofia is very happy.

On the way home, Sofia says, “I want to come again. Is it free?” Raúl laughs. “Yes, it is free every time. You just need a good team name.”
