Mandy helps at the book club today. It is Saturday morning, and a long list of names is on the table. Two women come to the door.

“Hello! Are you Ann?” Mandy asks the first woman. “No, I’m not,” she says. “I’m Anne, with an e.” Mandy looks at the list. “Is this your name?” “Yes, it is!”

A tall man comes next. “Are you new here?” Mandy asks. “Yes, I am. My name is Leo.” She looks at the boy behind him. “Is he your brother?” “No, he is my friend, Dan,” Leo says.

Mandy looks at the list again. “Is Ann here?” she asks the room. A woman with red hair waves. “Yes, I am Ann!” Now Mandy understands: there are two friends, Ann and Anne.

“Are you friends?” Mandy asks. “Yes, we are,” they say, and everybody laughs. Mandy puts a star next to each name. “Is the club ready now?” “Yes, it is!”
