The Study Group

Hana had a maths exam on Friday, and she felt more nervous every day. On Monday, she asked two classmates, Ben and Mia, if they wanted to study together instead of studying alone at home.

They met in the school library on Wednesday afternoon. At first, they all worked in silence, but Hana soon realised that she was stuck on the same exercise about fractions.

Ben was the best at numbers, so he explained the idea with a pizza cut into eight slices. Mia, who preferred drawing, made a diagram on a large sheet of paper. Seeing the picture helped Hana more than the formula.

Then the three friends tried to solve a test from last year. When Hana made a mistake, nobody laughed. Mia asked her to explain her steps, and Hana found the error herself.

Before leaving, they agreed to meet again on Thursday at four. Hana still felt a little nervous, but she no longer felt alone. She finally believed that she could pass.
