New in Town

Ruby is new in the town. On Monday morning, she goes to a small café near the station. The waitress, Rosa, smiles at her. “Hello! Do you like coffee?”

“Yes, I do,” Ruby says. “Do you want milk?” “No, thank you.” Rosa brings a cup. “Does your family live here?” she asks. “No, they live in Turkey.”

“Do you work near here?” Rosa asks. “Yes, I do. I work at the library.” “Does the library open at nine?” “Yes, it does. Do you read books, Rosa?” “Yes, I do. I read at night.”

A man at the next table has a newspaper and a big cup of tea. He listens to them. “Does she know the town?” he asks Rosa. Rosa laughs. “Do you want a map, Ruby?” “Yes, please!”

Now Ruby has a question. “Do you know a good bakery?” Rosa laughs. “Yes, I do. It is next door.” Ruby finishes her coffee and goes there.
