Tommy has a friend, Gwen. Gwen is ill today, so Tommy wants to make some soup for her. He opens the fridge and looks inside.
“I have some onions,” he says. “I have some carrots and some potatoes. I have some water, too.” But there is no salt in the kitchen. Soup without salt is not good.
Tommy goes next door. His neighbour, Mrs Reed, is in the garden. “I need some salt, please,” he says. “Of course! Here is some salt,” she says. “Do you want some bread, too?”
In the kitchen, Tommy cuts the onions, the carrots and the potatoes into small pieces. He puts them in a pot with some water and some salt. Soon the soup smells good.
Tommy takes the soup and some bread to Gwen. She tries it and smiles. “It is very good,” she says. “I want some more soup, please!”
