Hugo arrived at the station with enough time, but the screens were busy and several trains were leaving at almost the same hour. He looked quickly at his ticket and focused only on the time: 10:15.
A train at 10:15 appeared on platform four, so Hugo followed the crowd. He was already near the door when he heard a message for Birmingham. That was not the city on his ticket.
He stopped, moved away from the line, and checked the ticket again. This time he read every detail: Brighton, coach 6, seat 42, platform five. The time was the same, but the train was not his. He was at the door of the wrong train, but he noticed his mistake in time.
Hugo asked a station worker for help. The worker pointed behind him. “Platform five is on the other side of the stairs,” he said. Hugo thanked him and changed platforms before the doors closed.
On the train, Hugo put the ticket on the small table. “Next time, I will check the time and the city before I follow the crowd,” he thought.
