When Olivia suggests visiting an exhibition about the city's past, her grandfather agrees without much enthusiasm. He imagines a series of dates and dusty objects. Olivia, however, is interested in seeing how the streets she knows have changed, so they decide to spend Sunday afternoon at the museum.
The exhibition contains photographs taken over several . While looking at a picture of a busy street, Olivia notices a bakery with a blue door. A small red bus is passing in front of it. She mentions that the building looks strangely familiar, and her grandfather leans closer to the display.
To her surprise, he recognises the bakery immediately. As a child, he used to stop there with his father on the way home from school. He still remembers the smell of fresh bread and the baker who always asked about his day. Olivia has heard many family stories, but never this one. The old photograph suddenly feels more personal than anything else in the room.
A museum guide notices their interest and finds a larger version of the image. With the street name now visible, Olivia realises that her grandfather's childhood home was only a few doors away. The guide tells them that the museum has photographs from local families and invites them to share any they might have.
That evening, her grandfather takes an album down from a cupboard. Among the pictures, they discover one of him standing outside the same bakery. Olivia offers to it for the museum, but first she asks him to tell the story behind it. The exhibition has not merely taught her about the city; it has opened a new conversation between them.
