Tom lives at number six. His new neighbour, Ana, lives at number nine. On Friday, she gives him a card. It says, “Tea on Sunday at four? Come to my house.”

On Saturday, Tom puts a note through Ana’s door. “Come to my house for tea,” it says. But Ana is away, and the note is on the floor under her bag.

On Sunday, Tom makes a small cake. At four, he puts two cups on the table. He looks at the clock and waits. There is no knock at the door.

Tom goes outside. Across the street, Ana is at her window with a cup in her hand. “I have a cake!” Tom calls. “I have one too!” she says. They both laugh.

Ana comes to number six with her cake. They sit together and drink tea. Tom shows her his note. “Next Sunday, number nine,” Ana says. Tom writes it on his calendar.
