Jane has a maths exam on Friday. She is nervous. She asks two classmates, Ben and Mia, to study together.

They meet in the school library on Wednesday. They have a big table, three notebooks and one big problem: fractions.

Ben is good at numbers. Mia likes drawing pictures. Jane does not understand fractions. “A number over a number? I am lost,” she says.

Ben says, “Think about a pizza.” Mia draws a big circle and cuts it into eight pieces. Now Jane understands. “Half a pizza is four pieces!” she says.

At the end, they make a plan. They meet again on Thursday at four. Jane feels ready, and a little hungry.
