Lena has had a sore throat and a mild cough since Monday. She can still eat and drink, but speaking for long periods is uncomfortable. Because her symptoms have not improved, she decides to make an appointment at her local health centre.
She phones the reception desk and explains that she would like to see a doctor. The receptionist offers her an appointment at ten the following morning. Lena checks her calendar, confirms the time and writes down the address.
At the appointment, the doctor asks when the symptoms started and whether Lena has been able to drink normally. Lena explains that she feels tired, although she does not have any other serious problems. The doctor examines her and listens carefully.
The doctor recommends resting, drinking enough water and watching for changes. She explains when Lena should contact the health centre again if things get worse. Lena repeats the key instructions to make sure she has understood them.
Back at home, Lena makes herself a warm drink and cancels an evening plan so she can rest. She sends her sister a message saying that the appointment went well. It is a relief to know what steps to take next.
