Eva lives in Brookfield. Last Saturday, she goes to the library. She has not been there for some months.

The library looks new. There are comfortable chairs by the window. There is a quiet room at the back. Eva likes quiet places.

Paul works at the desk. “The quiet room is open,” he says. “The children’s corner is not ready.”

“We have a book club,” Paul says. “It is on Thursday.” Eva never goes to a book club. But she says, “I want to come.”

Eva takes a short book home. She is happy. Now she has a reason to come back.
